Practical, experience-led support for the moments when the right next step isn't clear.

There are points in every retrofit organisation where the path forward isn't obvious. A funding model that's beginning to fall short. A service that needs to change direction. Delivery that's become harder to sustain.
These situations are difficult not just because of the decision itself, but also because it sits inside a wider system of ongoing projects, partnerships, funding constraints and team capacity. Getting it wrong has real consequences.
Our mentoring is designed for exactly these moments.
We work alongside your team to understand what's actually happening—not just the surface problem, but the context around it. From there, we explore what different options would really involve in practice.
Reviewing your business model and identifying where it's under pressure.
Refining your service design so it's deliverable and sustainable.
Improving how your supply chain works in practice.
Strengthening how you engage and communicate with householders.
Our support isn't based on abstract frameworks. We draw on our own direct experience of running retrofit services, as well as insight from across the organisations in our community of practice. This means conversations are grounded in what's actually worked—and what hasn't - across a wide range of organisations and contexts.
"Our directors gained valuable insights into the challenges of establishing a new organisation,
including the need for persistence, patience and building capacity with available funding."
George Allen, NESFIT
Where it's useful, mentoring connects directly into the wider community of practice. You're able to test
your thinking against others who have faced similar decisions, compare approaches and learn from
how different models have played out in practice.
This reduces reliance on a single perspective and helps you build genuine confidence in the direction
you're taking.
Mentoring can also connect into implementation. Teams may go on to use tools like Home Retrofit
Planner, adopt approaches developed within the network, or collaborate on funded projects. This
creates continuity between strategic decisions and day-to-day delivery.
We recognise that organisations are at different stages and working with very different levels of resource. Our mentoring support is tailored accordingly and bursaries are available to ensure smaller organisations can access support where they need it most.
Not a fixed answer—but a position you understand and can stand behind. Clearer thinking, stronger reasoning and hopefully decisions that hold up over time. Supported by both direct experience and a wider community working through the same kinds of challenges.
No need to have it figured out first. Get in touch and we'll work out together what support—if any—
makes sense.
