In partnership with People Powered Retrofit, Locality, Community Energy England and Groundwork UK, the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) explored the role of non-profits in delivering retrofit services. Commissioned by Access – the Foundation for Social Investment, CSE examined existing providers in England and developed recommendations to support sector growth.
Demand for retrofit services is rising as buildings require upgrades to meet legal net-zero targets and reduce exposure to energy price fluctuations. Grant and blended finance are available to help the VCSE sector retrofit their buildings for greater resilience, but a constrained supply chain limits access to this support.
