Partner spotlight: York Community Energy

York Community Energy is an independent, volunteer-run social enterprise working to address energy and climate issues in the York area. Their York Energy Advice project offers both free and paid services that support local residents on saving energy, and they are working to establish citizen-owned renewable energy generation. They also run a variety of events to engage the local community in energy saving and renewables.

In a significant development, York Community Energy has enhanced their home retrofit assessments through a partnership with People Powered Retrofit, utilising Home Retrofit Planner tool.

Having recently transformed from an informal voluntary group to a Community Benefit Society employing staff, they were delighted to receive the 2023 Progress in Expansion Award from Community Energy England.

Looking ahead, York Community Energy is set to join forces with seven other partner organisations in order to set up a one stop shop for retrofit in York thanks to funding from Innovate UK - stay tuned for more updates!
