Partner spotlight: Exeter Community Energy

Focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency

Exeter Community Energy (ECOE) was established in 2014 by a group of 8 individuals who were brought together by Transition Exeter‘s energy group. ECOE has now grown into an award winning Community Benefit Society, committed to fighting climate change and fuel poverty through renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

Projects include: solar PV projects, tailored energy advice, home visits and whole house retrofit reports, installing energy-saving measures, and reinvesting back into the community. Exeter Community Energy has enhanced their home retrofit assessments through a partnership with People Powered Retrofit, utilising Home Retrofit Planner tool.

Community power - Local prosperity

Exeter Community Energy aims to:

- develop community-owned renewable energy projects in Exeter, creating a local green energy supply that improves Exeter’s energy security and resilience.

- raise awareness of and promote practical, local, low carbon solutions that address the global challenges of our reliance on fossil fuels and the associated climate impact.

- facilitate community ownership and active participation that engages and strengthens the local community and its economy through volunteering, investment opportunities and becoming energy producers.

- provide finance for re-investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, contributing to the reduction of fuel poverty.

- create a community fund for local community projects.
