Credit Unions are well placed to lend for Green Home Improvements, and many are already offering Green loans to their members. However, the Green Home Improvement supply chain is complex and members often find it challenging to find trusted, competent installers to make improvements to their homes.
ABCUL, Carbon Coop, Loco Home, Metro Moneywise, and People Powered Retrofit have collaborated on the Green Homes Finance Accelerator pilot: Credit Union Finance - A Place Based One-Stop-Shop for Retrofit. As part of this project we have produced a toolkit for Credit Unions, outlining the retrofit supply chain and considerations for mutual finance and retrofit sector collaboration.
In 'Credit Unions and the Green Home Improvement Sector: A Toolkit for Supply Chain Engagement', we provide an overview of the different actors in the retrofit supply chain and share innovative examples of Credit Unions from the UK and beyond who are forging partnerships with the supply chain to increase the impact of their lending.
Whether you're a Credit Union looking to get into green lending, or a retrofit provider looking to understand how you could collaborate with the mutual finance sector, we hope this report helps to outline key opportunities and risks for cross-sector collaboration.
You can read the report below, or download a PDF copy at the bottom of this page.
We also shared some key insights from the report at an ABCUL webinar on February 27th, 2025. If you would like to access a recording of this webinar, please contact Jake Hatch (Jake.Hatch@abcul.org).
